Briefly About Me

Hello,

Thanks for visiting my website. Here’s a little about me.

I have 30 years of experience working in the professional theatre with both commercial and non-profit companies.

Quality productions and professionalism are most important to me but what I seek more than anything else is to discover, create and develop new works that are groundbreaking and innovative, without copying or trying to duplicate previous successes.…In the way that was true for shows when they were first produced like Oklahoma, Hair, A Chorus Line and much of Stephen Sondheim. I’m also always interested in directing and producing classics or forgotten work in a new way, approaching them as if they had never been produced before, re-visioning them and making them impactful for today’s audiences. Truly seeking out the next new play or musical that changes the way people think about theatre. That is my goal.

I grew up enthralled with theatre, when at age five on a trip to NYC from our Midwest home, my parents took me to see My Fair Lady. Then later, I studied acting with Stella Adler at NYU when I arrived in New York at age 18. Soon I started performing professionally, mostly in musicals, fully aware that performing was a stepping stone towards something more. I set out to do every job in theatre that I could and to learn as much as possible.

I produced my first show while still a senior in college, a tour of a rock musical version of Alice In Wonderland that I commissioned. Later I worked for a number of very active general managers, first as a house manager and later in company management positions.

I then moved into stage management which led me to directing. I am a member of AEA & SSDC. I was a member of Circle Repertory Company and worked at other prominent NY companies and regional theatres throughout the country. I have worked on the development and recreation of hundreds new and known works through many readings, workshops and productions at New York and regional theatres.

In 1995 I founded The Genesius Theatre Guild, a non-profit theatre company and continued as its Artistic Director for 16 years with our focus on the creation and development new plays and musicals. Through Genesius, ReVision Theatre, Texas Star Theatre and Tri-State Center For The Arts I have honed my skills and abilities as an Artistic Director, bringing all my training and experience full circle.

You’ll find more information throughout my website, so feel free to look around.

LIVE – LOVE – CREATE – CHANGE

All the best,

Tom
